Arts/Industry
Kohler Co. and the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, located in nearby Sheboygan, Wisconsin, bring the arts and industry closer together with the development of a resident artist program. Artists from around the world create original works during residencies in the company's pottery and foundry facilities, alongside factory employees. This highly successful collaboration between art and industry makes industrial technologies and facilities available to artists so that they may further their artistic explorations. It continues to draw acclaim from the art world. The donation of finished work by program participants has steadily increased the size of Kohler's corporate art collection which can loosely be described as contemporary American. Collection pieces are displayed throughout the main office and some factory buildings, select sites in the Village and in a gallery space in the Kohler Design Center.
Water-saving Products
A line of low-consumption toilets, faucets and showerheads is introduced. The products are designed to reduce strain on municipal and private sewage systems, and lower sewage and water treatment costs. The Wellworth Water-Guard toilet uses 3.5 gallons of water per flush, a reduction of 30% from conventional toilets which require as much as five gallons.
