Environmental Enclosure
Kohler introduces Environment, the world's first environmental enclosure. With the touch of a button, the user can program the environment to include sun, gentle rain or wind. The product receives extensive media coverage in trade and consumer magazines, newspapers, television and radio in the U.S. and overseas. It also earns a special award from the American Society of Interior Designers, with judges noting: "Environment is one of those brilliant ideas that adds excitement and inspires other designers to bring innovation to the field of interior space."

Whirlpools Offered
A line of whirlpool baths is launched, providing consumers with aesthetically pleasing designs and superior operating whirlpool systems. The introduction marks two important firsts in the plumbing industry: the first enameled cast iron whirlpool baths offered by a major full-line plumbing manufacturer, and the first whirlpool baths offered in colors to match other Kohler fixtures. Only two years after introduction, Kohler's offering becomes the largest volume U.S. line.
