We've had this cabinet for about five years now, Great look for our bath and we like the adjustable glass shelves and other nice features. But like many others who've posted reviews, both wired connections to the built-in door lights have failed near or adjacent to the connectors due to repetitive stress from opening and closing of the doors. I've temporarily fixed one with electrical tape but the other will require further work. According to recent reviews on this page, the newer connector addresses this problem but apparently isn't compatible with the original doors' male wiring connectors. I suggest seeking out a showroom with a floor model to examine before ordering this cabinet, and confirming that your cabinet includes the updated connector prior to installation (see the wiring connector shown on the service parts page).

We also have intalled a smaller model in another bathroom and have not encountered the wiring problem yet.

Great design, flawed wiring design in early examples.

I have 4 of these in my home and they are beyond frustrating as the side bar led lights flicker or stop illuminating after a couple of months of use. Kohler's internal wiring harness that routes from the cabinet to the door front shorts out repeatedly. I have called Kohler on multiple occasions and in the past they would send me a new wiring harness which is very difficult to install as the internal cabinet trim piece requires small hands to remove for replacement of the wiring harness.  Kohler has now changed the wiring harness to have a hard plastic elbow which is allegedly designed to eliminate this design flaw; however, here's the kicker- the new elbow wiring harness does not fit the lit panel door so it forces the consumer to spend another $900 on top of the initial purchase price to have a functioning lit cabinet.  I have had to purchase several of the old wiring harness as back ups and am having to go through the time consuming motion of periodically "patching" a product back together that should be working correctly from the start. Kohler provided one (one out of four) replacement doors with the new harness as a peace offer- shame on kohler for not offering to replace the three remaining door panels.  I will remember this when building my next home and/or offering feedback to friends and family regarding Kohler.

Serious Design Flaw

I just ordered a replacement Verdera mirror.  Like so many 1 star reviewers the lights stop working and the inside mirror detached. Also the edges of the front mirror are showing desilvering from the moisture in the bathroom.  You would think vanity mirror in a bathroom would not have this issue since it's a bathroom.   
They offered 50% off of retail.  Still expensive!  1 star for the mirror but customer service is very helpful so another star for that.

Not great durability but when it works it's nice.

Lots of reviews about the lights wearing out, in fairness they updated the lighting component, so the component that wires into the lights has been redesigned and has a 90-degree connector that looks sturdier than int he pictures.

However, I can't attest to the reliability of the lights because the moment I turned on the lights after this was installed, there was an immediate obvious defect in one of the lights, it looks like you can see the adhesive they used to secure the led lights, smeared all over the inside of the light diffusor. Is there no quality control at the factory? No one can be bothered to turn it on and check for this extremely obvious defect? Considering this issue and other reviews, not sure I can trust Kohler to do anything involving electricity.

Embarassing quality control

Love the medicine cabinet.  We have had it for about 8 years.  Love the lights, the functionality and the overall look.  But, the power cables that run to the side lights are a weak spot.  Ours have failed twice.  The first time I was able to solder a connection and get them working again.  This second time I ordered new cables.  Beware, the new cables do not fit - at least not on our 8 year old cabinet.  The screw connection on the new cable is too small to fit on the older cabinet.  The parts diagram shows a straight connector. That is what is on the older cabinet. The new cables you receive are a 90 degree connection.  Good design change, but not useful when you need the older / correct size connector. If you have the older connector and the wiring fails from constantly being opened and closed, take heart.  The older connectors unscrew at both ends and you can replace the failed wiring (if you know how to solder). That's what I did this time and the lights again are shining bright.  This should work for another 2 or 3 years and will probably fail again.

Lovely Cabinet - design and parts problems

IT WILL RUST/DE-SILVER. Though this looks beautiful at first, the edges started deteriorating after a year of use. We were not expecting to have to replace a Kohler product within a few years. It was so disappointing to see, given the cost of the unit.

Problems with rust/de-silvering

I purchased this medicine cabinet as a replacement for an identical one that failed several times.  I have had problems with installation:  the electricians can't follow the instructions about the main light switch being a rheostat. The wiring channel inside the center also never seems to be installed correctly because it is too small to contain the wires/connections.  I had to replace the side door on my original unit because the wiring wore out after three years of normal use - I hope the redesign is sturdier but I am afraid to store anything in the side sections for fear of wearing out the wiring again.  Finally, the interior mirror is worse than useless for makeup application because when the face is positioned close to the mirror all the light is blocked.  On the positive side, the unit is very bright and I don't need a separate light fixture to light the room.

Problem with manufacturing

DO NOT BUY KOHLER PRODUCTS—poor quality in the Verdera Lighted mirrors. Issues included shipping and electrical problems, and the final nail in the coffin: the rear mirror fell off because it was only attached with two-sided tape. Replacement mirror parts are not available, nor were they available when the light cables failed. We had to order the cables from a Kohler-recommended company (hmm, wonder if it's a subsidiary). Given the substantial investment in this supposedly top-of-the-line product, we have not received good value for the money. After speaking with a customer service agent, the standard solution was a 50% discount on the purchase of two new Verdera Lighted Medicine cabinets—at the current listed prices. Initially, when asked to discuss the matter with her manager, she offered the same discount. The manager then offered a workaround. The solution for reattaching the mirror was to use 3M double-sided tape (available on Amazon or at Walmart) and a butter knife. After questioning this procedure, the manager then offered to add free shipping. Please explain how Kohler believes it supports its customers. Asking them to purchase the same defective product at current prices is not a good deal. After years as a Kohler customer, our family and I, along with as many people as I can reach on social media, will no longer purchase Kohler products.

If Only 0 Stars Were An Option

I bought this just a couple years ago and the light cord is broken and the lights do not work.  Way overpriced for what you get.

Skip it - better and cheaper options out there.
