Main Global Footer Experience Fragment

We recently bought a house and this is the shower system in our primary suite. We were very excited to have something seemingly high tech to make our showering experience enjoyable and we have discovered the complete opposite. The system cannot regulate the temperature at all. One second it's 86° and the next it's 118°. Sometimes it will just shut off completely and those are typically the days i wash my hair because... of course. I'd say to anyone thinking of installing this in their home to absolutely think again. And if you are looking to purchase a home where this is already installed...buy a different house.

You're hot and you're cold.

Same controller with same interface for over 20 yrs. Shame on you Kholer ! There are SOOOO many other better alternatives to this product. Your shower valves and faucets is your real strength. This weird and seriously outdated contraption, is not. The panel is slow to respond when touched (wet or dry), like 2-3 sec delay between touch and action. Crashes randomly and takes 30 sec to 1 min to reboot, during which your water may or may not shut off, randomly again. I installed this on 2 different showers with same valves and controllers, just different floors in my house. Both panels are plagued by the same weird behaviours. This is 2025 and this kind of crap is no longer acceptable ! Wake up Kholer !

This outdated panel is the shame of this company.

This is the dumbest accessory you can buy. When something breaks, and it will break, I hope you have another shower to use while you wait for another expensive part to be delivered. We have had this for six months since moving into our home, and it has not gotten to the set temperature (anything over 100 degrees) yet. We have simply disconnected the rain outlet because it’s a continuous leak of cool water until about 15 minutes after the shower is turned off. 

Bottom line: you are MUCH better off with a shower that has handles to control the temperature. The components will break, and if there is ever an electrical outage, the shower simply won’t turn on and off. Save yourself the headache and the wasted money.

I did have to have a plumber and an electrician install this and my plumber did have to call his kohler rep for help. You need WiFi near the unit also. But it works great. I wish I could have it on all of my faucets. I love having the temperature be exactly what I want every time! And each user can have their own settings. Highly recommend.

Love this control

Excellent product, HOWEVER....apparently my DTV controller was taken out by an electrical spike/surge. Heard the big boom, however nothing else in my house was affected. Shower is down, and it has been 2 months (so far) to get a replacement, which with a high dollar item, and a large company like Kohler, IS UNACCEPTABLE. AND I have no clue when I will get one.... So you better think about it before you buy, and oh, it's over 1K if you want to buy a spare....

I have to tell you, I have never been as disappointed in a product as I am in this one.  I just wasted another hour of my life talking to tech support about this product, only to be told repeatedly it is me that is the problem, not the product.

After reading off reviews in both the Alexa Skill, and the Kohler website, it reaffirmed to me that Kohler has lost me as a customer unless they make this right.  I install high end smart home systems in high end residential homes, and I cannot and will not recommend this product.  To the point, I need to recommend people NOT to buy it.  

Kohler is supposed to be a luxury brand – at least in my eyes it always was until this debacle of a product!  I owned the original DTV system, and while it was dated from when I installed it in 2007, at least it worked.  This system has numerous issues:

-	Constantly disconnects from the APP, and requires me to log in
-	Constantly disconnects from Amazon Alexa
-	The touch screen is the absolute worst.  I have to always hold the screen down, and it takes forever to respond.  

My wife is so upset at me for doing this upgrade and I cannot say I blame her at all.  I would really hope a company like Kohler can invest some money in simply upgrading these controllers to something with a tactile button press with a display and offer it as a modestly priced upgrade for those of us that have suffered with this sub-par product.  That for one would make me once again gain confidence in this line, but until then I do not see myself ever spending another dime on anything with the name Kohler on it.

DTV+ might be the worst product ever

Don’t let kohlers sterling reputation for quality fool you.  The DTV+ system is even more unreliable than it is expensive.  Two years in I’ve already replaced a $1000+ control unit and now two months later the system has failed again.

Purchase if you enjoy disappointment

I have spent over $20,000 installing this system to make the dream shower.  2 6 valve controllers, speakers, everything that DTV+ was all about.  I've had this system for about 5 years and every single port of the 12 valved has completely failed.  Initially Kohler sent me replacement solenoid but they failed as well.  What Kohler doesn't want you to know is that they have designed a product that faulty and guaranteed to fail, they know that the failure rate on these is 100%, they know its defective by design and they continue to shamelessly to sell you this stuff even now knowing well that anyone who buys it will have to buy a new system, spend another massive amount of money and throw away this defective by design product.

Shame on you Kohler, you were once a brand that was a symbol of quality, sad, very sad.

Complete garbage  - STAY AWAY FROM THE THIS PRODUCT LINE

My wife and I were skeptical about the Kohler DTV digital shower system because of the reviews. However, we decided to move forward. It has been nothing but a wonderful experience. Do you have to have a professional installer that has experience installing Kohler systems. We converted from an older DTV system to the newer version. The one thing that was critical was the conversion kit. Kohler can improve on is its customer service and base knowledge of the product. If we did not buy the conversion kit, we probably would have had a very negative result.

I bought a house that came with the DTV ii system. I had never used one before so I did not know how it worked. Come to find out the outdated system needed to be replaced. I was told by Kohler they would replace the face panel for $1400 and send a tech out to install. Ok great. They replaced the face and it still didn't work. Now I needed a new control panel. Fine, $500 later and 6 months (because they had to make it) it still does not work. Because now the software is not compatible with the hardware. I have had 2 electricians and a plumber look at the system and no one knows how to fix it. I can only turn on and off the water. I cannot change the temperature, shower heads.. nothing. Everytime I call Kohler I get the run around, and the transfers and nothing ever gets done. It is incredibly frustrating. I would so much rather a normal good old fashion knob at this point.
