This is one of two toilets in the home. The house has a water filtration system but this toilet is impossible to keep clean. Rings appear and it stains too easily. Flush mechanism ( using a handle) I believe has two levels but I do not think is noted in the manual. The seat is pealing and will have to be replaced now after a couple of years. Choose something else imho.

I love the skirted bottom -- My toilet is right in front of the doorway and the side profile is the first thing one sees, so the toilet looks great and the skirt doesn't trap dust and needs minimal cleaning. More importantly, the toilet flushes really well. I've never had a problem. And it is comfortable. However, it has a fatal flaw -- Inside the toilet bowl's inner rim there is a lip all the way around. This lip catches urine and my toilet smells like pee. I am a single woman and find I have to clean this part of the toilet a couple of times a week or it smells awful. It's not an easy place to clean, either. It's very disappointing.

Beautiful, works well, but has a fatal flaw

We purchased 3 Kohler Gleam toilets some time back. Unfortunately since the day they were installed, these toilets have not cleaned the bowl effectively after flushing. Sometimes it takes 3 cycles and then some hand cleaning to clean the bowl.  Wish I could replace them.

Disappointment

Purchased 3 toilets 2-months ago. Flushes well, rinses bowl well, quiet. It is a bit higher than expected but fortunately my children are grown. I'll see if my grandkids have an issue. Design is big improvement for cleaning both interior bowl and exterior, as well as aesthetically. One of three toilets was broken in several pieces upon opening the box so check before the plumber arrives to install. Toilet is "very" heavy, especially if moving to 2nd floor so plan accordingly. Very happy with purchase.

Flush strength is so weak & the toilet skirt trap proportions are so not conducive for flushing solids with a golf ball sized opening.


Going to have to buy a new toilet so that we don't have to go through this again.

I bought the toilet at a local big box store, brought it home and began installing it.  After getting well into the product a bolt would not catch.  After twenty minutes of trying and re-trying I took the cam assembly piece off for inspection only to find it was missing the nut that would catch the screw.  Upon reporting this to Kohler, I was told to return the toilet (very heavy and already partially installed up a flight of stairs), I reminded them that their packaging insists that you contact Kohler for any missing or broken parts and not to return it to the retailer.  I was then informed they would ship a new part out in 3-4 days.  Leaving me without a toilet for a week.  When I followed up with Kohler customer service, they took a day to respond to tell me that in fact the missing piece will not ship until June and that I should find one someplace and submit a receipt for reimbursement.  All because of a single 5/16 nut.

Love the toilet but terrible service

I bought this toilet thinking that I can replace the lever to brushed nickel. Apparently, this toilet tank works only with the lever provided, in chrome. I contacted customer service and they confirmed this. THIS IS SO SILLY. MAKE THE REPACEMENT LEVER AVAILABLE IN OTHER FINISHES OR PUT THIS LIMITATION IN THE DESCRIPTION.

You cant change the lever to other finishes

The instructions are very general. That might be okay for a plumber but not a novice.  I watched a few videos but they were also very vague. It was pretty much a guess as to where the shell had to seat over the fixture. I couldn't get one of the bolts to grab onto the fixture. The part with the nut kept falling off because the little nub that was supposed to hold it in place wasn't doing its job. I used some tape to hold it in place. I also had to apply some tape to raise the nuts up a little so the bolt would start. When I put the tank top on, it wiggled and did not seat firmly against the bottom. I called Kohler Customer Service and followed their instructions about how much I should tighten the retaining bolts but that was not enough to compress the rubber washer so the metal feet would contact the base. I had to install plastic shims. It improved it slightly but there is still a wobble. I should have stuck with a more conventional design! Very disappointed!

Disappointed

Got my new toilet and lugged it up the stairs to find there was a missing part. Called the Kohler Customer Care (Careless). Part was on back order and there was nothing they could do. Person’s attitude was closer to “sorry about your luck and how can I get you off the phone”. Very poor customer service.

Missing Part

I bought this, not knowing if the different floor mount was a good idea or not. I lived the idea of the smooth sides that are so easy to clean. Ends up, this is the easiest toilet I have ever installed. It is quiet and does exactly what a good toilet should do. If I can find this same toilet in gray, I will replace my other toilet with one just like this one.
