For the past 15 years I was using the same toilet that came with my house, a Kohler from the early 90's which used 3.5 gallons of water per flush. The idea of taller comfort height toilets started to really appeal to me. What sealed the deal was my state has a great rebate program to save water and they'll pay $250 toward a qualifying toilet. I decided to stick with Kohler. I researched the models that qualified for my rebate and settled on the K-5299 after researching it online. It was also the first toilet I ever installed myself, so this was a big experience for me. The installation went just fine and I love the 5299. It's the right height and the flush is short and powerful and yet not loud. I settled on this model because another Kohler model I was circling had reviews from people who said the flush was pretty loud. Whether that's true or not I got the 5299 because one or two reviews said the flush was not loud. They were right. This purchase was a first for me on several fronts - first toilet purchase ever, first low flow flush toilet, first self install, and first taller comfort height... and I'll tell you that I couldn't be happier!

Very Impressive Overall

I bought 2 of these toilets to replace the main ones in our house with a lower gpf. They work well. The first one was very easy to install. The second one has been a little harder - we are having a hard time getting the toilet level despite all the usual adjustments.
