We bought a Veil to install in the house we were building. We liked it for the first couple of years (apart from being loud). But then it started to fail, and customer support experience has been very mixed. 

First the wand stopped working. Kohler told us there wasn't a certified repair technician near us, so send a part for me to replace myself. After taking everything apart, I discovered the replacement part they sent was not the right one (it was for a different Veil model and had different electrical connections). I had to convince the customer support person that they problem was on their end. After a long time on the phone and texting photos, they agreed a different part was needed. 

At that point, I was able to convince them they needed to send a certified technician from the next city. That has been the only positive part of this.

The new part arrived, and the tech came and installed it. But the problem was still not fixed. The tech talked to Kohler and the decided a different part needed to be replaced. The next part arrived, the tech came and installed it, but the problem was only partially fixed (one wand function worked, but not others).

It has since been three months, and Kohler customer support maintains they are waiting on a back-ordered part. Three months, and now a lot of the time the toilet isn't flushing at all.

This unit has been a lemon, and should have been replaced completely, but Kohler hasn't been willing. Our family is getting exasperated by this unreliable unit. We wish it worked (and were quieter), but my wife is at the point of having it ripped out and throwing $$$$ away.

I'd give it a positive recommendation if only it worked. But our experience has been very unsatisfactory.

Lemon!

Incredible toilet.  Plumber said it was the best toilet he has installed.  Quality parts throughout.  So many features and functions.  My husband and guests are happy.

Incredible Toilet

well i first purchased the Kohler veil about 4 years ago and about 6 months after my purchase the toilet would not flush anymore. i contacted Kohler and i was shocked that they sent me a replacement toilet. well about year ago the bidet stop working so well i just had to go back to the original way of cleaning myself. now about 3 months ago the toilet wont flush anymore. so 2 Kohler toilets quit working 1 after 6 months and the other after 3 or so years. i earn a okay living but to spend 5K on toilets every 3 or so years is something i just cannot afford. i loved the toilet but i just cannot recommend it. they are not built to last.

will not last very long

Very disappointed with this toilet paid a lot of money for something to only last less than four years. 
The water control assembly unit broke in the fall and I contacted Kohler as the toilet wasn’t flushing properly and would take 7 to 10 flushes just for paper. 
They were very decent about it and sent me the part in the mail and then I got a plumber to replace it and Kohler covered the cost of that too. 
Now I am just four months from that and the same thing is happening, it takes several flushes to move anything, the same part has broken again!

I contacted Kohler and was told because the toilet is over three years old. I have to buy the part myself and pay for a plumber. The part alone is $500. Not something I expect to be doing when it was only replaced four months ago.  To be honest, considering the price of this unit, I expected it to last a lot longer than 3 1/2 years. 
So don’t waste your money get a regular toilet and one of the fancy bidet seats from Costco that’s what my friend has and it has all the same features as the veil. 
I wouldn’t recommend anyone spending this amount of money on this unit because it just doesn’t last

Not worth the cost

I'm an engineer, a builder, chairman of four companies and an avid toilet user :).  This toilet has been such a huge disappointment.  Always have to flush it twice, the seat stopped heating two seasons ago, had to replace the main pump once, seat ring once and still does not work. As an engineer I have tried to troubleshoot to no a Veil :).  As a chair, I would send the executives of Kohler back to school to re-learn the lifetime value of a customer.  What a disaster!  I am surprised there has not been a class action suit filed.  Kohler's executive team should enact a program to proactively rectify these issues.   Just sayin.

Don't even consider.  Good company gone bad.

I’ve had this toilet for about a year. First the pros: heated seat is nice, night light is convenient, the bidet works as expected. Now the cons: price and price of installation. You need to install a dedicated gfci outlet for this toilet to be under warranty. This toilet is impossible to clean and keep clean. The glazing (no matter what your diet) will attract debris. There are cracks in the seat that love to collect debris. If you sit to do number 1, the way the rim is designed you will always get splash back. There are voids where the seat and the bowl meet that tend to collect debris. Be sure to get extra air filters, if not your bathroom will stink. There are too many inaccessible crevices for the toilet to be fully sanitary. Given the chance I’d go with a standard toilet or another brand. I feel like Kohler has used their customers as beta testers. I’m usually a fan, but this product is a huge disappointment. I’ll be going with another brand of smart toilet in the future.

The Veil is a very fancy toilet, unfortunately it is very loud and sounds like a jet taking off. While the flush is very powerful, it does not always flush all the material.

Works well until it fails, and if you happen to fall outside the warranty period Kohler is completely unhelpful.
We used only Kohler products in our entire new build.
The Veil Smart toilet costs as much as a used car but is less reliable.
Every single part other than the porcelain bowl has been replaced…… all the parts failed rendering the unit non-operational.
We just paid $1220/- to repair the unit with 3 new parts. The technician/plumber recommended by Kohler was excellent but is rendered helpless when Kohler doesn’t back their product and new parts are required.
It’s interesting that Kohler offers lifetime warranties on its other products such as faucets/showers etc., but on a $14,000 toilet can’t stand by their product and gouges customers.
Buyer beware. I will never invest in Kohler products again in any new projects, and neither should you.
Fancy showrooms and personable sales staff aside, all that glitters is not gold.
If a large company cannot stand by its premium products, and leaves its most valued customers with large bills for faulty and defective/failed units, it’s not worth your dollar .
Very disappointed low quality product, poor warranty, and poor customer service.
No matter what they try to tell you please be forewarned. This company needs to re-think how they deal with their customers be they homeowners or corporate clients.

Buyer Beware……All that glitters is not gold.

I was stupid enough to pay $6,000 for a toilet because I thought it would be amazing.  The product is beautiful, but the function is seriously lacking.  The flushing takes two or three times to clear.  It constantly washes itself, so the water usage is astronomical and makes a lot of noise.  I've reached support multiple times since I have owned the toilet and they are always friendly and responsive, but lacking in knowledge.  I had to tell them that the user manual was wrong about certain operations.  Recently I got so fed up with the function of the toilet, I asked for a repair.  I spent $100's on a new water valve and pump and the recommended plumber broke the unit during repair.  Support sent out parts quickly, but managed to do it by standard shipping rather than overnight, so now I am without a toilet for 2 weeks over the Thanksgiving holiday.  My recommendation is buy a standard toilet from Toto for a few hundred dollars and the attachment bidet seat, this way if there is a problem standard repair or replacement is easy for much less money!

Overpriced and overrated

Very disappointed that the remote does not have a feature to extend the awake illumination time. It constantly goes dark while I am still standing at the toilet. I now have to shake my right foot every time I want to flush the toilet. What a terrible design.
